Just been looking at the Works and saw this from Ian. Following a busy season in Scotland, 45407 has worked the last two days on the East Lancs prior to annual scheduled maintenance. Today saw both sets of piston valves withdrawn, all coupling rods and connecting rods removed and transported to the works for attention, work on removing the elements, flue and smoke tubes will commence tomorrow. 45407 and 45212 are required back in Fort William by Easter at the latest. 44871 will join them in Lochaber once it has a full boiler overhaul, chassis lift and complete 10 year overhaul, again, also hopefully by Easter.. I wish him and the team well as it looks like they are going to be rather busy for the next few months.
