Actually GW 2-8-0 3817 and B.R. Std 76080 were also cut up in 1972/3. A few bits of both survive e.g. the centre wheelset of 76080 which was to go on 82045 but had the wrong number of spokes IIRC. As mentioned above the locos at Barry were comprehensively stripped, often by groups or individuals who intended to buy a loco but never actually did. Often those 'spares' went into someone's back garden or shed never to be seen again or were later re-sold at a very nice profit. In the early 70's some organizations legally purchased far more 'spares' than they would ever need leaving certain classes such as Jinties and small Prairies woefully short of motion parts. Remember that, at this time, no-one expected that nearly all of them would be preserved. Re 35011 I still believe that the best way forward would be to work with other groups and 'pool' the best bits of 35010/11 and 25 to make two 'good' ones plus a spare boiler but it's not my engine. Ray.
